2017 Was a Very Good Year for the Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) & Whatcom County Library Foundation (WCLF).
Construction began on the new library building in Point Roberts, a new library in Birch Bay progressed from dreams to the (early) planning stage, and your library is a real stand-out, locally and nationally! Read about your library's accomplishments and how Whatcom County Library Foundation provided the support to make it happen in our 2017 Annual Report.
WCLS (with the Birch Bay Library Design Committee) is in the process of selecting a design firm that will be conducting a community input process;
We want to encourage people to attend the community input meetings (likely will happen in April – May);
The cost for the whole project will be significant ($3.5 million current estimate) so be thinking about how to make a major donation;
FOBBL/DEVCOM is seeking major corporate donors, grants, and state funding so any leads/connections/ideas would be welcome;
Visit the Bookmobile in Birch Bay and use it often, to show sustained need for enhanced library services to Birch Bay.
The picture shows the Little Free Library box concept that is now available for use in the Birch Bay Visitor Information Center. The Committee meets the fourth Monday, 6:30 p.m. at the VIC and we ask people to let us know so we can adjust seating to accommodate them, RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
